- Paper Money, the US dollar, has been backed by SOMETHING, either Gold or Petro. Essentially THAT is what gave it its worth. So how does it suddenly lose its backing? We are no longer INVESTED in Oil Fields? Even if Foreign Countries drop the dollar could we then back it by OUR OIL???
